Not
through betting or robbery but through
corruption. As I type this I feel certain anger that I believe many Kenyan
young people feel. It 1st started with National Youth Service(NYS), close
to 800M that belonged to the youth vanished. We all have seen ‘efforts’ to
‘trace’ the money. Bank accounts have been frozen and no arrests have been
made. What we see is just a circus of politicians naming themselves and shifting
blame from one quarter to another. Statistically speaking the 800M would have
changed the lives of many young people, to be specific 10, 000 Kenyan youth each
receiving a total of Ksh80,000. That is HUGE.
Before the
NYS scandal settled, another corruption related case erupted. Now touching the Youth Fund. Reports on the media indicate that 180 Million were
lost. It is interesting how corruption has been so rampant that we all see the
180M as an insignificant amount. The other day I saw the chairperson of the
fund trying hard to explain to the parliamentary committee how the 180M were
spent. I ain’t no fool not to see some people ate the chicken but as the norm
is, some believable explanation will
come up.
Am that
kind of Kenyan who would love a corruption-free country. When Murang’a Governor
Mr Iria was roughed up into EACC offices I smiled! There is always something wrong
seeing citizens’ escort a politician cum leader with corruption cases to the
EACC offices. It is your money people, why chant praises to someone who stole
your money??
I look forward to the day when Kenyans will
treat a leader found to have stolen public money the same way as they treat the
thief who just snatched a bag on the street. #My2minSense.
