Mike Sonko
and Polycarp Igathe have been officially sworn in as the Governor of Nairobi
and Deputy Governor respectively. The ceremony held on Monday at Uhuru Park was
attended by the President elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
In his inauguration
speech Hon Sonko pledged to restore Nairobi’s lost glory. He also thanked those
who voted for him saying the faith people have on him will not be taken for
granted.
In
attendance was the outgoing Governor Evan Kidero who wished Sonko success as he
takes over Nairobi’s leadership.
Mike Sonko
has already begun cleaning the city in a campaign dupped “Clean Nairobi Project”
which aims to make Nairobi the cleanest city in Africa.
