Inside the tent

Moi University students are holding their classes inside tents. The institution which was ranked 1st in the recent university rankings by Webometrics have the tents erected in the institution's main campus.  The decision to put up the tents seemingly was made as a result of the huge student population currently on session. The tents which have been erected along the institution’s Academic Highway are said to temporarily resolve the problem of lack of lecture halls.

Moi University recently came under the spotlight after pictures of students seated on the floor in class surfaced online. Many have described the situation at the institution as dire attributing it to limited resources that do not match the huge student population. “Amenities such as hostels and lecture halls are really few here, some students are even forced to have their classes while standing.” a student who sort anonymity described.

A spot-check around the institution reveals construction of what seems like lecture halls at various stages. The situation at the moment could therefore change in the near future.
